Some large nonprofits have a high volume of legal work that might call for a team of attorneys, or they may simply prefer the large law firm support for their matters. Nonprofit Compliance Services
For startups, we’ll help with getting registered in the appropriate state(s), but we typically won’t offer ongoing registration services unless we are also supporting that organization with other legal matters. For organizations only looking for registration compliance on an annual basis, there are various services providers available.
Cogency Global, Inc. and Labyrinth, Inc. specialize in administrative services for nonprofits, including state solicitation registrations and multi-state registered agent coverage.
These services are most helpful for organizations that operate in multiple states and have a large fundraising foot print. However, we can help organizations understand their registration requirements and decide whether they should be registering in multiple states.
Nonprofit Leadership Resources
Depending on an organization’s need, there are plenty of resources available to help point them in the right direction, or that may provide helpful services on an affordable basis, such as job boards and executive searches.
Charitable Advisors is an Indianapolis-based publishing and consulting firm with a free weekly e-newsletter sharing booth national and local news and trends for nonprofits. You will also find opportunities for learning and connecting with other nonprofits.
Nationally, The National Council of Nonprofits and NASCO offer practical guidance and state-specific resources for nonprofit leaders. While it’s not legal advice, their websites are a good starting point for understanding the broader nonprofit environment.
